A total of nine companies from Bulgaria, Denmark, the Baltic countries, the Netherlands, Poland and Finland refused to pay for gas supplies in rubles.
Among others:
- PGNiG (Poland): stopped deliveries on April 27;
- Bulgargaz (Bulgaria): stopped deliveries on April 27;
- Gasum (Finland): stopped deliveries on May 21;
- GasTerra (Netherlands): stopped deliveries on May 31;
- Shell Energy (Germany): stopped deliveries on May 31;
- Lithuania (Amber Grid), Estonia (Eesti gas), Latvia (JSC Conexus Baltic Grid) stopped buying Russian gas and prepared two months for storage.
At the same time, many suppliers continued to settle accounts with Gazprom, as before, through euro and dollar accounts at Gazprombank. Payment schemes are not fully known, in particular, it is not clear whether providers open ruble accounts in violation of EU sanctions.
Companies that continued to pay Gazprom:
- Hungarian MVM;
- German VNG, RWE, Uniper;
- French Engie;
- Italian Eni;
- Austrian OMV;
- Czech CEZ;
- Slovak SPP and Geoplin;
- Greek DEPA Commerce, Mytilineos and Prometheus Gas;
- The British authorities have allowed to conclude agreements with Gazprombank until May 31.
At the end of March, Vladimir Putin, by his decree, obliged “unfriendly countries” to switch to rubles in payments for supplied energy resources.
Previously Focus reported that Russia is going to increase oil exports from its largest port by 20%. According to Reuters, by next month, oil exports through the eastern port of Kozmino will reach a record 880,000 barrels per day.
