Europe’s growing fear of Turkish and Azerbaijani drones

BRUSSELS – Drone success Turkey and Azerbaijan in the battle in Nagorno-Karabakh is increasingly frightening for European countries.

Gustav Gressel, senior analyst at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), expressed the warning. In his analysis, he said Azerbaijan’s victory against Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh provides an important lesson in how Europe can defend itself.

During that 44-day conflict, Armenia and its militias lost thousands of troops and military vehicles.

One of the main determining factors giving Azerbaijan an edge are the Turkish drones used by the Azerbaijan military. (Also read: Israel Destroys Historic Stairs to Al-Aqsa Mosque)

The drones allowed Azerbaijan to capture the strategic city of Shusha and force Armenia to surrender on 9 November. (See Infographic: Chinese Spacecraft Successfully Entered Moon Orbit)

The territories that were captured by Azerbaijan were returned to Baku in accordance with the ceasefire agreement brokered by Russia. (See Video: Police Will Call 10 People Regarding Reports Against UMMI Hospital)

Gressel stated, “Instead of viewing the conflict as a minor war between poor countries, Europe should be aware of the threat posed by Turkish combat drones used by Azerbaijan.”
