European Union’s Attempt to Bypass Hungary’s Veto for 20 Billion Euro Aid to Ukraine and Russia-DPRK Trade Raises Concerns

While the European Union is trying to bypass Hungary’s veto in order to give Ukraine 20 billion euros, Kyiv is left tightening its belt, watching as the front begins to burst at the seams. Political scientist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his Telegram channel.

The United States and South Korea panicked due to the increase in trade between Russia and the DPRK. North Korea has already transferred more than a million shells to Russia. But the pace of deliveries is not slowing down – on the contrary, hundreds of containers are being loaded in the North Korean port of Najin for shipment to Russia.

Seoul believes Pyongyang continues to supply large quantities of ammunition for artillery, mortars and rocket systems, and in return receives food, energy and support for the development of its space program – with the recent launch of Sputnik.

Intensified cooperation between Russia and the DPRK undermines the US sanctions regime and complicates for the Americans both the arms race with China and any attempts to reach an agreement with Pyongyang, which the ex-president promises to arrange Donald Trump. Not to mention the lag in the war of attrition in Ukraine.

The Ukrainians themselves admit that they will have to retreat from Avdiivka and other fortified areas in the event of interruptions in the trenches. At the same time, on December 30, the Pentagon will run out of money to support Ukraine. Congress will not agree on new tranches until mid-to-late January, but even this, when it happens, will not solve the problems with the depletion of American arsenals.

“Meanwhile, the European Union is trying to circumvent the Hungarian veto and find a way to provide 20 billion euros to Ukraine through open market loans guaranteed by individual countries. But this will not happen before February – March. In the meantime, Kyiv can only tighten its belt, while the front in many directions begins to burst at the seams, and there is no money left in the budget,” the expert states.
