The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, today urged the international community to act to prevent Israel’s offensive in Rafá, a fact that he described as unacceptable.
That territory is the last enclave of the Gaza Strip without being attacked and where 1.4 million Palestinians are concentrated.
Borrell’s words follow statements from Tel Aviv for residents in the eastern neighborhoods of the city to evacuate the area after reports of the first attacks against Rafá.
It is unacceptable. Israel must renounce a ground offensive and implement the United Nations resolution. The EU, together with the international community, can and must act to prevent such a scenario, said the head of European diplomacy.
The international community opposes this operation, which the Israeli authorities have been threatening for weeks.
