With the support of the European Union and the Council of Europe, the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority in Serbia (REM) organized an awareness event on promoting media literacy, providing 90 preschool educators in-depth knowledge, recommendations and tools to promote media literacy, as part of the “Open media literacy days” campaign.
This event is the result of REM’s efforts to develop its capabilities to equip preschool educators with the tools necessary to teach safe navigation in the digital landscape. The survey commissioned by the REM in 2022, which revealed a worrying reality, was an essential catalyst for preschool children: 69.7% of preschool educators surveyed expressed concern about the effects of social networks on children. children, describing this influence as “harmful” or “very harmful”.
The action “Protecting freedom of expression and media (PRO-FREX) in Serbia” is part of the joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey”.
