European Swimming Championships. Italian Alberto Razzetti wins 400m gold medal

Italian Alberto Razzetti, 23, became European champion in the 400m medley on Thursday in Rome. He beat Hungarian David Verraszto (4:12.58) and another Italian Pier Andrea Matteazzi (4:13.29).

In the absence of Léon Marchand, crowned world champion in the distance in Budapest in June, the Blues were represented in the final by Emilien Mattenet. The 21-year-old swimmer took seventh place in 4:19.36.
