PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) held a test ride session for the Yamaha Grand Filano Hybrid Connected to media crews in Bali, 23-24 February 2023. So, what were your first impressions of trying this Yamaha Grand Filano on the island of the Gods?
Yamaha invites test ride participants to tour Bali for two days with a distance of approximately 125 kilometers. The places visited this time brought Grand Filano as a lifestyle friend for the younger generation, starting from Muntig Martasari Park, Chatwood Cafe, Balangan Beach, Savaya Beach Club, and dinner at Le Grande Hotel.
The route that was passed during the trip was mostly paved, incline, to winding. The following is a brief review when trying out the Yamaha Grand Filano Hybrid.
First impressions look at the Grand Filano design
Yamaha Grand Filano is a retro ride in modern times. This motorbike carries the theme “The Next Level of Fashion”. Every time you observe this motorbike from all sides, it feels like the Yamaha Grand Filano is indeed designed to be a motorbike full of contemporary style like European scooters.
Yamaha Grand Filano has a luxurious and elegant theme. The Grand Filano’s curves are made more artistic than other 125 cc scooters. When crossing the road, it is felt that Grand Filano will become a new color in Indonesian traffic.
Steal attention, that’s how it is when carrying Grand Filano across the streets of Bali. Naturally, apart from being a relatively new motorbike, the Grand Filano also has a classic yet modern design. The motorbike is also wrapped in quirky colors. It so happened that detikOto tried the Neo Red and Neo Dull Blue Grand Filano.
riding position
Apart from being designed as a “Fashionable” motorbike, the Grand Filano is made to facilitate the daily activities of its users safely and comfortably.
From his driving position, the test rider’s height is 168 cm and weighs 79 kilograms. The seat height measures 790 mm, which is quite high for a 125 cc motorbike, so the feet don’t land perfectly.
From the ergonomics of driving, it feels like the Yamaha Grand Filano is really designed like riding a European scooter. For example Vespa, Piaggio Liberty or Honda SH150i. Because the sitting position is made relaxed, but forced to remain graceful and upright.
The position of the handlebars is made higher than the knees, when turning, the distance from the handlebars to the thighs is quite far. As a result, the turning radius of the Grand Filano is fairly good. This makes it easier for motorists when they want to turn around or go through narrow alleyways.
Another comfort offered is the spacious footrest from Grand Filano. The legroom of the Grand Filano is ample in a size 43 shoe.
While touring with the Yamaha Grand Filano, this motorbike still offers a relaxed riding position even though it is not a Maxi Series family.
The practicality of the Yamaha Grand Filano
Speaking of practicality, of course this relates to the accommodation offered by the Yamaha Grand Filano.
With the presence of the Smart Front Refuel feature (the mouth of the fuel tank is in the front position) so that refueling is more practical without opening the seat.
In addition, the Yamaha Grand Filano is an automatic motorbike with a luggage capacity of 27 L so that it can accommodate more luggage such as a change of clothes or fashion items that support riders to look stylish and comfortable while driving.
Another accommodation feature offered by the Yamaha Grand Filano is the Convenience Hook Carabiner, a goods hanger with a carabiner locking system making it more practical when carrying lots of items.
Then the driver can always be on while driving by utilizing the Electric Power Socket feature to charge gadgets and keep calm by storing them in the Spacious Front Pocket as a storage space that can be opened and closed when carrying items on the front.
