The ten-year yield on American securities reached the 5 percent mark in the morning, putting pressure on European stock markets. The Stoxx 600 – a basket of 600 European shares – falls for the fifth day in a row and is 0.9 percent lower in London. The decline has reduced annualized profits to 1.2 percent.
The Bel20 index was approximately 1.1 percent in the red just after 1 p.m. The Belgian stock market index is flirting with the lowest level since October last year.
