European equities closed higher on Friday as optimistic signals from Wall Street helped offset early losses due to weak commodity prices and mixed corporate results reports.
After falling 1.1% earlier, the European Stoxx 600 index rose as the session drew to a close, closing up 0.1%, to its highest level in five weeks.
The Wall Street indices received a boost from Apple shares, which showed better-than-expected results.
