European Parliament Leaders Visit Verkhovna Rada for Holodomor Commemoration Event

Speakers and representatives of the parliaments of Belgium, Ireland, Finland, the Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia took part in a special meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on Saturday.

Details: According to her, the Chairman of the Belgian Senate Stephanie Doz, the Chairman of the Senate Milos Vystrcil and the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Marketa Pekarova Adamova spoke at the Verkhovna Rada today; Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Jussi Halla-aho, Speaker of the Irish Parliament Jerry Buttimer, NATO PA President Michal Szczerba, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament Marko Michelson and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Sejm Pavel Kowal.

Gerashchenko added that the speaker of the Finnish parliament “amazed me with his wonderful Ukrainian language.”

In Ukraine, November 25 is the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holodomor.

Gerashchenko recalled that 17 countries of the world recognized the Holodomor as genocide.

“Our partners and friends are aware of the clear parallels between the crime of the Holodomor, organized by the Stalinist regime, and the current destruction of Ukraine by the Putin regime,” she emphasized.

What preceded: Previously, a number of leaders and ambassadors of European countries paid tribute to the memory million victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933.

The day before it was reported that 55 UN member states and the EU delegation signed the initiative initiated by Ukraine at the UN Declaration on the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933.
