European Football Championship | The star’s greeting to Eriksen:

Belgium had full control against Russia, and Romelu Lukaku marked the dream start with a greeting to his teammate at Inter.

Belgia – Russia 3-0

The football world was shaken after the incident that hit Christian Eriksen and Denmark in the match against Finland.

But the Belgians delivered a solid match and eventually won comfortably 3-0, after two goals by Romelu Lukaku and one goal by Thomas Meunier. Lukaku sent a greeting into the camera to Danish Eriksen after his first goal.

– Chris, Chris, be strong, I love you, Lukaku shouted into the camera.

– I was scared, and cried a lot when I saw the news. My thoughts were with him and his family, and that was the achievement for him, Lukaku said after the match.

The Russians dropped selection

It all started with the Russians refraining from showing their support for racism, and the Belgian players were left alone on their knees after the referee had started the match. That to a big pipe concert from the audience.

– The Russians remain standing, and this marking is becoming very controversial. But it is up to each team if they want to mark it, said TV2’s Øyvind Alsaker after the incident.

Belgium rushed out of the starting blocks, and calmed their nerves early when Romelu Lukaku took advantage of a mistake by the Russians.

– It is called on offside, but Lukaku cheers for an early European Championship scoring. I’m pretty sure he’s offside, but then the question is whether it’s an attempted pass from the Russians that makes it “come from an opponent”, said TV2’s expert Petter Myhre after the match.

Lukaku double

The Belgians continued their dominance, but had to make a substitution midway through when Leicester player Timothy Castagne had to come out with an injury. In came Thomas Meunier who spent seven minutes scoring for his first goal in the championship, after a club and a babble in the field.

– What a dream come true for Meunier, who comes in and scores live. Belgium has had a huge payoff, TV2’s Øyving Alsaker said after the Belgians’ second goal.

Yannick Carrasco dribbled past Russia’s defense brilliantly, but the shot went just wide of Anton Shunin’s goal.

– It would have been a magnificent scoring, if it had sneaked in.

Minutes before the end, however, Romelu Lukaku should put an end to a safe end, and thus secured a solid 3-0 victory against Russia.
