The Hungarians did not succeed in the first half in Budapest and conceded in the 36th minute after Rubežič’s goal. Captain Szoboszlai contributed to the home turnaround after the change of sides with two goals in two minutes, Ádám Nagy had the final say in the set time.
Lukaku opened the scoring in the 17th minute in Brussels. Then visiting Eddy Israfilov was sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession. The hot forward of AS Rome then scored three more goals between the 26th and 37th minutes. The best scorer in Belgian history improved to 83 international goals in 113 matches. Lukaku also cemented his position as the top qualifying scorer with 14 goals.

Spain beat Georgia 3-1 to win their fourth home qualifier. After Le Normand’s opening goal in Valladolid, Kvaracchelija quickly equalized, but in the second half Torres and visiting Ločošvili hit their own goal.
