European first: Italy launches corona-free high-speed trains | Abroad

According to the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane railway company, this is a European first. “We will be introducing a corona-free train in early April – initially between Rome and Milan,” CEO Gianfranco Battisti said at an event at Rome’s central station.

All employees and passengers will be tested for the coronavirus before boarding. The Red Cross is called upon for this. It is not yet known whether this also means that travelers and staff no longer have to wear a mouth mask or keep their distance.

After the Rome-Milan route, the busiest in Italy, more corona-free trains will be deployed this summer for tourist destinations such as Venice, Florence and Naples.
