European Egg Crisis Unfolds as Catholic Easter Approaches in 2024: Store Shelves Empty, Restrictions in Place

Catholic Easter in 2024 falls on March 31, and Europeans are massively buying eggs in stores. How reports Gazeta publication, the demand is so great that a real egg crisis has unfolded in Scandinavia.

In Norway, for example, it is already very difficult to buy eggs – store shelves are empty, and customers are unhappy.

According to Norwegian media, some stores have even introduced restrictions on the purchase of eggs – no more than a few dozen per hand. A salesperson at a supermarket in Oslo confirmed that he used to receive 400-600 pallets of eggs for sale every day, but now only a maximum of 50 per day.

“We say the chickens are on strike. We need to add a little humor to it and we also hope to get the shelves stocked as soon as possible,” he said.
