European Day of Your Rights in Health: Promoting Health Rights Among All Users

Next April 18 will take place the European Day of your rights in health (originally “European Patients’ Rights Day”, promoted by the movement of European citizens Active Citizenship Network).

As every year, the France Assos Santé network is mobilizing throughout France for several weeks to promote health rights among all users. A highlight of democracy in health.

Knowledge of rights is essential for all

Knowledge of health rights is progressing from year to year, as evidenced by the 2023 barometer of the rights of sick people carried out by France Assos Santé. Nevertheless, it is necessary to remind them regularly in order to reinforce their application.

The results of the barometer also highlighted the need to better inform users about collective rights: in fact, only 1 in 3 French people say they are familiar with the notion of representing and defending users. via the presence and action of representatives of users of the health system (UK).

« The message we want to convey to our fellow citizens during these EDDs is the following “, explains Gérard Raymond, president of France Assos Santé: “ by making known your positive or negative experience of your care, you allow our health system to progress. Within the hospitals, user representatives from associations are there to support you in this process that benefits everyone. »

Throughout the national territory, France Assos Santé deploys the JEDS in health establishments and online, relying on user representatives in close collaboration with the professionals and approved associations that make up its network.

Multiple and varied events in the region

In order for them to be better implemented, health rights must above all be known to those first concerned: the “users” of the health system. It is in this desire to promote it that the JEDS encourage debate around various themes: representation of users, rights of sick people, health rights of vulnerable people, equal access to care, advance directives, consent… Find this year, several face-to-face and online events accessible to all: debates, webinars, information stands, videos, podcasts, conferences, workshops, exhibitions… Be numerous to participate, discuss and inform yourself about your health rights!
