European Cup, World Cup qualification, Bundesliga – Ostfriesische Nachrichten

The new week is filled to the brim with European Cup matches and national league matches. The Champions League starts on Tuesday. The German soccer players are also challenged.

The third day of the Champions League preliminary round brings the German quartet consistently away tasks against mostly well-known names in European football. There are also attractive opponents waiting in the Europa League and Conference League.

While there is no real top game in the Bundesliga at the weekend, the game of games is on in Spain, albeit under unusual circumstances. The German soccer women travel to Israel.

Champions League: For RB Leipzig, after two defeats at the next clash with permanent opponents PSG in Paris, it may already be about the last chance to advance. Borussia Dortmund, like hosts Ajax Amsterdam, started with two wins. Bayern Munich can outperform their most serious group rivals to date with a win at Benfica in Lisbon – with or without Lucas Hernández, who is due to appear in court in Madrid on Tuesday. For the currently ailing VfL Wolfsburg, the chances of the round of 16 after two draws would increase significantly through a win at front runner Salzburg.

Europa League / Conference League: After the bankruptcy in the top game against FC Bayern in the league, Bayer Leverkusen can aim for group victory in the Europa League at Betis Sevilla with the third success in a row. It would be a satisfaction for the young team after the lesson by the master. For Frankfurt it is on Thursday (9 p.m. / RTL) against Olympiacos Piraeus to make amends after the lousy performance against Hertha BSC. So far, the Glasner-Elf is still unbeaten internationally.

World Cup qualification women: The DFB selection starts on Thursday (9 p.m. / sportschau.de) in Petach Tikwa in the first game against Israel, the second leg is on October 26 (4:05 p.m. / ARD) in Essen. For the first time after a cruciate ligament injury, defender Giulia Gwinn from FC Bayern Munich is on the line-up. Goalkeeper Almuth Schult (VfL Wolfsburg) is also part of the squad for the first time since the birth of her twins. The DFB selection leads the group after two matchdays with six points and 12: 1 goals.

Bundesliga: The 9th matchday begins on Friday with the game Mainz against Augsburg. The day after, front runner Munich welcomes the Hoffenheim team, where the former FCB employee Sebastian Hoeneß is a trainer.

Clásico: The duel between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid next Sunday is no longer as explosive as it was last time, because the hosts are weakening after Lionel Messi’s departure. Real are second behind Real Sociedad San Sebastian with one game less, but Barcelona are only seventh after their 3-1 win over Valencia CF.
