Great Britain and other European countries want to help Ukraine to ensure that Kyiv can win the war with the Russian Federation without US support if Donald Trump comes to power in Washington and refuses its support.

According to the source, Europe is desperately trying to increase production capacity so that it can send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine to deter Russia for at least a year, regardless of US support.
The piece says some in the British government believe all that is needed to defeat Putin is time, and Europe should be prepared to help Ukraine move forward without US support.
“He (Putin) is betting on Trump, but Europe is turning the gears to do it without the United States if Trump tries to pull the plug,” the source said.
“Can continental Europe afford to retreat just because Trump said there will be no more help from the US? I think most understand that Putin cannot be allowed to win because the consequences for European security will be serious,” the government official added Great Britain.
One way to victory is to “stretch” the Russian army so thin that he is forced to surrender, the source said, adding that no matter what the Russian dictator’s pain threshold is, he is not able to continue the war indefinitely.

“It’s much easier to keep Ukraine on the defensive, defending the achievements that it has made, than to go on the offensive. I’m confident, at least on this issue, I think we’re pretty confident in the long term,” one of them told The Times. Western officials, whose name is not mentioned.
The material says that the heads of British military intelligence believe that Ukraine will not be able to win a war with Russia in 2024, since it has neither the manpower nor the weapons for a big breakthrough on the battlefield.
At the same time, the publication notes, the Russian military also does not have the strength to launch a large-scale counteroffensive capable of breaking through the Ukrainian defenses.
Earlier, Finnish President Sauli Niinistjo in his New Year’s address called for investment into weapons production to prove that Europe is strong.
