European corona passport and Covid Safe Ticket: this is the difference | To travel

A Covid Safe Ticket (CST) will be mandatory in our country from August 13th for everyone who visits a major event with more than 1,500 people. From September 1, this also applies to indoor events. But what is the difference with the European vaccination passport?

The European vaccination certificate is essential if you want to travel smoothly within Europe. You will receive such a certificate if you are ‘corona safe’. This means that you have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days or have already recovered from the coronavirus and have antibodies. A negative PCR test performed within 72 hours is also sufficient to obtain a European vaccination passport.

You can consult the certificate via the CovidSafeBE app on your smartphone, via mijngezondheid.be, myhealthviewer.be and in Flanders on My Citizen Profile. You can also request a paper version of the certificate that will be sent by post.

Difference

The Covid Safe Ticket (CST), on the other hand, is only intended to be used in Belgium. You’ll need it from August 13 for major events such as festivals with over 1,500 visitors. You will get it again if you are ‘corona safe’. You only have to be able to present a negative PCR test for the CST that is less than 48 hours old, for the European vaccination passport it was less than 72 hours. A full vaccination or antibodies against the virus are of course also sufficient.

It is not known exactly what the Covid Safe Ticket will look like. It will be available via the CovidSafeBE app and other digital applications. Other citizens from other European countries will also be able to obtain the CST to participate in major events in our country.
