European consumer group backs Apple’s EU antitrust case driven by Spotify – EzAnime.net

The European Consumers Organization (BEUC) has backed the European Union’s antitrust case against Apple, it reported. The case alleges that Apple distorts competition in the music streaming market and followed a complaint from Spotify.

BEUC Supports Spotify, Apple’s EU Antitrust Case

BEUC backed the case on Wednesday, as it was allowed to do so as an interested third party. Its CEO, Monique Goyens, said:

We look forward to working with the Commission to ensure that European consumers have access to a full range of music streaming services without their options being unfairly restricted or prices artificially inflated.

Apple has rejected the EU accusations. In a similar vein to what the argument goes in his case with Epic Games, he argues that the App Store helped boost Spotify’s business. Apple now has 12 weeks to respond to the charges. Ultimately, the case could lead to a fine of up to 10 percent of global turnover. Changes to your business model could also be imposed.
