European Commission wants to make summer abroad possible with a corona certificate: what is it and how will it work?

The Commission proposes to introduce a digital certificate: the Digital Green Certificate (Digital Green Certificate). This should allow healthy European citizens to move freely within the EU, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. And that both to work and to travel. If everything goes according to plan, the certificate should be ready in three months, just in time for the summer holidays.

It is important for the Commission to launch such a certificate at European level, in order to prevent Member States from individually introducing corona passports, which could lead to confusion. The Commission will also provide a platform so that all certificates in each country can be checked and matched. An Italian will therefore have the same certificate as a Belgian or Dane.

Furthermore, the Commission also wants to avoid that Europe has to introduce an American or Chinese passport system.
