Companies could ban the supply of coronavirus vaccines outside the EU pending contracts with Brussels.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, threatened AstraZeneca with a ban on the export of vaccines due to a reduction in supplies agreed with the EU. She stated this in an interview with the media group. Funke.

“We have the ability to ban planned exports. This is a signal to AstraZeneca: you are fulfilling your contract with Europe before you start shipping to other countries,” she said.
According to the head of the European Commission, in the first quarter the company supplied only 30% of the agreed amount of vaccines to the EU.
Also, von der Leyen warned against hasty planning of summer vacations.
“It is too early to have discussions about summer. We are still in a very difficult situation, when more aggressive variations of the coronavirus are spreading rapidly, and in some countries a third wave is starting,” she said.
In this regard, it is necessary to carry out vaccination even more actively. “At the same time, we are preparing vaccination certificates for the summer. We will see later,” added von der Leyen.
On the eve of the German Minister of Health Jens Spahn said that there are not enough vaccines in the EU, to stop the third wave of the pandemic.
It should be noted that the European regulator recognized the AstraZeneca vaccine safe and effective.
