Jakarta –
Many European club stars crossed over to Saudi Arabian League. Money from Saudi Arabia and countries around the Persian Gulf is considered to be undermining the quality of European clubs.
The Saudi Arabian League is gathering many star players. Cristiano Ronaldo the first top player was brought in in January 2023.
In the second wave, to be precise in the summer of 2023, a large wave of arrivals of top players occurred in the Saudi Pro League. Neymar, Malcom and Ruben Neves were bought by Al Hilal.
Temporary Al Ittihad bought Karim Benzema, Fabinho and Jota. Al Nassr also did not lose, they bought Sadio Mane and Alex Telles to accompany Ronaldo. Not to forget, Al Nassr also bought Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, from Al Ettifaq FC, Jordan Henderson was recruited. Apart from that there are also Moussa Dembele, Georginio Wijnaldum. For the coaching post, Steven Gerrard was chosen as Al Ettifaq FC’s tactician.
The large amount of money offered by Saudi Arabian clubs is clearly a big temptation for top European players. The Inter boss was aware of the situation, Beppe Marotta.
“This is difficult, also because we have to manage the phenomenon of the Arab market. The consequences of which we still cannot understand,” said Marotta at Calciomercato.
“This has shaken the transfer market in Europe. This is an economic benefit, but it has made European clubs lose quality,” he added.
In the Qatar League, there are also top players who have crossed over. Philippe Coutinho joined Al Duhail, while Marco Verratti played for Al-Arabi.
