TOBOGGANING. World Cup and European Championships in Igls: 1st day. There were two gold medals in both the women’s singles by Madeleine Egle, who celebrated her third win of the season ahead of the German duo Julia Taubitz and Anna Berreiter, and in the men’s doubles by the new duo Steu-Kindl, Lisa Schulte came fifth, Hannah Prock ended up in 10th place.
SNOWBOARDING. World Cup in Scuol, Engadin (Sz): Austria’s evergreens struck in the parallel giant slalom. Benjamin Karl, who turns 39, celebrated his second win of the season, while Andreas Prommegger, who will soon be 44, came third. – Ladies. Italy achieved a double success with winner Lucia Dalmasso, while 50-year-old Claudia Riegler in fourth place underlined that age does not protect against class and top results.

TENNIS. The Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, French Open winner 7 years ago, won the last preparatory tournament for the Australia Open (from Sunday) in Adelaide against the Russian Kasatkina in two sets.
Sebastian Ofner (Monday against Kokkinakis) and Dominic Thiem (against Auger-Aliassime) will start on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
TO SWIM. Pro Swim Series, Knoxville. Felix Auböck confirmed his top form after the Flagstaff altitude training in Arizona. One day after his victory in the 400m freestyle (3:46.78, Olympic limit confirmed) with a superior success with just under a second ahead of the Americans House and Smith in the very good time of 1 for this World Cup countdown phase: 46.70 minutes.
