Sarah Sjöström is a championship winner again. In the 50 meter freestyle, it was gold in the short track European Championships in Kazan.
– I never thought I would succeed in getting back to this level so quickly and take a European Championship gold this year, Sjöström says to SVT and refers to the slippery accident she had in February.
Sjöström swam at 23.12 – her best time in the distance in four years.
Polish Kataryna Wasick won silver and Maria Kameneva, Russia, took bronze. For Sjöström, it was championship gold number 35 that she swam home.
