European Championship Draw Pots and Seedings Revealed: Red Devils, Italy, and Netherlands Not in Same Pot

The countdown to the European Championship draw on December 2 can now really begin. Since almost all participants are known, we are increasingly gaining insight into the composition of the pots. The Red Devils will soon be the seed, but the Netherlands and Italy are certainly not. We already know this about what those pots will look like.

Pot 1: The only one complete

The first pot for the European Championship draw is complete. The Red Devils will soon be seeded with Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and England.

Teams from the same pool cannot of course compete against each other.

Pot 2: 4 countries already known

In pot 2 we first find the other group winners. Denmark, Hungary and Albania are already certain of this. Turkey and Romania have the greatest chance of following suit on the final day.

Furthermore, Austria, which was in the qualifying group of the Belgians, also ends up in pot 2.

Pot 3: With the Netherlands

Lo and behold, no pot 1 or 2 for the Netherlands, but ‘only’ pot 3.

Our neighbors end up in this with other countries that finished second in their qualifying group. Are already certain: Scotland, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

If Croatia draws at least against Armenia, they will complete this pot.

Pot 4: Serbia and play-off winners

Pot 4 is reserved for the 3 worst teams that still managed to qualify, together with the winners of the play-offs.

Serbia is the only one that is certain of this. Italy may also follow, because if Croatia achieves at least a draw against Armenia on Tuesday – a very plausible scenario – the Azzuri will end up in the lowest pot.

That is punishment and increases the chances of a tough group during the European Championships in Germany for the seeds. A group with the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy is therefore perfectly possible for the Red Devils.

The play-off draw will take place later this week, and seven countries are already certain of participation: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Israel, Finland, Poland, Georgia, Greece, Luxembourg and Ukraine.
