The European Central Bank is increasing its crisis program. She wants to grant banks cheap loans by summer 2022. That is supposed to encourage lending to businesses and consumers.
The European Central Bank (ECB) with President Christine Lagarde at the helm will act even more generously than before in the fight against the economic consequences of the corona pandemic. The European currency authorities have increased their crisis bond purchase program PEPP by half a trillion to a total of 1.85 trillion euros. And they are extending it by nine months from the end of June 2021 to at least the end of March 2022.
