The presidency of the European Car of the Year (COTY) poll has published a list of finalists for the year 2022, including the Czech representative – Škoda Enyaq iV. However, the competition between electric cars is really strong this year, after all, in the final seven there is only one car with an internal combustion engine, which is the Peugeot 308. The paradox reflecting the current development of the automotive industry is the fact that last year there were only two electric cars among the candidates – Fiat New 500 and VW ID.3. Even last year, however, the Czech representative was also present in the final seven, but the Škoda Octavia ended up in fifth place. The Toyota Yaris took the lead last year.
Recall that the professional poll Car of The Year (COTY) has been running without interruption since 1963 and is completely independent. The organization is provided by European motoring magazines, the jury consists of 60 members from 23 countries in Western and Central Europe, and since 1993 there has been one Czech representative, Jiří Duchoň since 2016.
