Europe is using Nord Stream to stab the beleaguered hegemon in the back

/View.info/ Attention to the Nord Stream sabotage story is taking the worst possible turn for the United States. The subject cannot be spoken, or rather kept silent, and the long-term consequences of the incident will come to light in the most unexpected places. The subservience of European, particularly German, elites does not allow sabotage to be raised under the banner of a potential rupture in relations between the US and the EU. American control over European managers has turned out to be even greater than might have been assumed before the start of last year’s events in Ukraine. But now, in addition to the American control over the top managers of the EU countries, the influence of the EU, as well as the complete dependence in the security segment, energy dependence has also been added, making the Stockholm syndrome comprehensive and insurmountable.

Another thing is the domestic politics of the US itself. The clear evidence of state terrorism by the Biden administration could be an explosive argument for his opponents in the upcoming presidential election and beyond. It is this phrase “state terrorism” that may serve as the factor that finally polarizes American society to a state that threatens to escalate into civil strife. How the issue of slavery once became, if not the root cause, then a significant ideological watershed that predestined the American Civil War of 1861-1866. A terrorist state cannot be such only in relation to enemies – once applied, these methods will certainly be used on the territory of the States themselves.

It can be assumed that it is the fear of premature exposure – just like in poker – that drives the American authorities to do new stupid things. For example, to spread rumors through the Democrat-controlled media that an alleged Ukrainian group was involved in the sabotage of the Streams, which was financed by a Ukrainian oligarch. And now “Spiegel” published a photo of the yacht “Andromeda”, which could be used to organize the explosion. And then there’s the Netflix-worthy detail that six saboteurs with fake Ukrainian passports allegedly made their way through Poland and Germany to the Danish island of Bornholm, where the explosion took place.

The yacht, together with the crew, will, of course, be searched for a long time, and when it is found, it may turn out that the crew members for the most part are no longer alive, and the rest did not even know who they were working for. All in all, all sorts of plot twists remain.

Either way, the party about the “Ukrainian trail” of sabotage says a few important things. First, that this topic seriously burdens the American authorities. Journalist Seymour Hirsch’s investigation, along with his promises to reveal new details about the incident, require an immediate response. The stories that the elderly journalist has gone mad and is spouting conspiracy theories no longer work. A counterattack was needed and one appeared. Second, it is no wonder that Ukrainians were chosen as scapegoats. Ukraine is being treated as a tool to strike at Russia, why not use Kiev as a lightning rod for the Nord Stream story? All for the good of democracy and the power of democrats.

Blaming the Europeans for the attack apparently seems the height of cynicism even for Americans. Not only did Berlin meekly swallow an act of war against its own economic sovereignty, it is too much to hold it responsible for suicidal actions – even a beaten dog can bite. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who visited the US recently, apparently returned empty-handed. Washington has no intention of repealing the anti-inflation law and other measures that are draining European industry from Europe. And the EU itself clearly does not have significant reserves for the race with subsidies. The pleas were rejected, but Scholz did not receive a kick in the form of accusations of “self-destruction”, allowing the chancellor to retain his vestiges of self-respect.

By the way, the question of guilt for a terrorist attack is not only a question of justice and punishment, but also of money. The German companies “Unier” and RVE, as well as the French “Engie”, as you know, filed a lawsuit against “Gazprom” in connection with the shortage of gas under the contracts. The total price of the issue is about 40 billion dollars, which, on average, for the years before the Pandemic, is comparable to the entire income of Gazprom from the export of fuels to European countries. If the US were to be found guilty of blowing up Nord Stream, international lawsuits would immediately change their addressee. But, of course, it is almost impossible to imagine this at the present moment. And so they will be looking for the yacht “Andromeda” and its mysterious brave crew, capable not only of diving to super-deep depths, placing tons of explosives, but also carrying a huge decompression chamber, quietly disappearing from radar and other amazing tricks.

In Kiev, by the way, they hastened to deny the accusations of involvement in sabotage. However, both the New York Times and the Washington Post emphasize that Zelensky knew nothing and that a mysterious oligarch organized and financed the entire operation from start to finish. Running the names of these same oligarchs through your mind, it’s hard to imagine anyone who could do such a thing. Neither Akhmetov, nor Kolomoisky, nor Pinchuk and Poroshenko. They could hardly even think of such a thing, even if the reward for the feat was a “golden visa” that would allow them to flee Ukraine with their capital and legally live in London, New York or southern Spain.

Either way, the Nord Stream blow-up story will remain one of the central topics of international politics in the coming months and years. In terms of the consequences for the fate of the European continent, this terrorist act has no equal in history. If now, as hostages, the Europeans are playing the game imposed by the US, then in some foreseeable future reactionary forces will appear that will try to preserve the remnants of European subjectivity. It is these forces, whether friendly or hostile to Russia, that can use the Nord Stream case to stab a weary hegemon in the back. Unless, of course, it collapses under the weight of internal contradictions.
