Europe is facing a political, social and cultural crisis –

/ world today news/ “From the BSP LEFT BULGARIA we have our priorities this season – progressive taxation, VAT, which differentiates and enables the costs of raising children to be different, social benefits for mothers and children, social solutions to have Bulgaria”.

This was stated by the chairman of the BSP, Mihail Mikov, in a statement on behalf of the parliamentary group on the occasion of the beginning of the new political season. “We will be even more persistent this session and this year because we have the right to say that we have been consistent and we have not lied to our constituents.” We will be consistent in defending the interests of the majority of Bulgarian citizens”, he added. As an example, Mikov pointed to a case in a hunting village, where today they are burying a family who died of hunger and cold, in misery, 5 days ago, and their daughter did not report in order to receive their pensions and return the versies to the store. “When we vote and make decisions in the National Assembly, we must also imagine the other side, the real Bulgaria – life outside the yellow cobblestones,” the chairman of the BSP is emphatic.

Mikhail Mikov emphasized that at the beginning of every year, people are full of hopes, and it depends on the politicians whether these hopes will be justified and fulfilled. “Today we live in an extremely complicated international environment. The policy of sanctions and counter-sanctions between Russia and the EU continues, which the government supports, and the price of which is paid by the Bulgarian citizens”, Mikov also said and pointed out that the losses in agriculture are BGN 300 million. “From BSP LEFT BULGARIA we will continue to let’s be against this policy of the Bulgarian government”, he declared. According to him, the conflicts around us continue. “Europe is facing a political, social and cultural crisis, under the pressure of a million emigrants from the Middle East and North Africa with unclear nationality and status, who are flooding the Old Continent”, stated the chairman of the BSP. According to him, the Bulgarian government still does not have a clear position – where is Bulgaria in this process and how is it participating in the formation of the positions. He asked how much the Bulgarian citizens will pay out of the 3 billion that the EU has agreed with Turkey and how many refugees will be accepted in our country out of the 400,000 that are were agreed to be resettled by Turkey. “BSP LEFT BULGARIA will insist that Bulgaria take an active position now that the revision of Dublin is being discussed and that our country should be an equal member of the EU and that it should receive solidarity support for the refugee pressure.” he is categorical. According to him, there is no clear direction in the country’s foreign policy. “We will constantly provide alternatives for the government to offer from Bulgaria”, specified Mikov.

The chairman of the BSP is of the opinion that the internal political situation is no less disturbing. “In the area of security, we are witnessing brazen killings and an inability to deal with ordinary domestic crime. There are no answers here either,” Mikov said. According to him, the crisis PR replaces the real actions that Bulgarian citizens expect from a government that understands crime the most. “And maybe that’s exactly why crime increases when he rules,” commented Mikov and added that the BSP will support initiatives that are real and give opportunities to the Ministry of the Interior and the services to do their work.

“This year we will celebrate 25 years since the creation of the Constitution. We from the BSP LEFT BULGARIA will categorically defend the three main principles: Bulgaria to be a democratic, social and legal state. This is not a given, but this must be asserted every day when freedom of speech is violated”, explained the chairman of the BSP and pointed to the suspension of the program “Deconstruction” on BNR as an example.

The full text of the declaration:

While listening to Mr. Tsvetanov’s speech, I imagined the village of Raduliane, Loveshka region, where Valcho Dishev and his wife Donna are buried today. Two Bulgarians who died of hunger, of cold, in misery 5-6 days ago and their daughter did not report so that she could receive their pensions and return the versies to the store. And we, respected representatives of the people, here in the National Assembly, when we vote, when we speak, when we make decisions, we must always imagine the other, the real Bulgaria – life outside the yellow cobblestones, life outside the Brussels and politically correct lexicon, life as such , as it is for the millions of Bulgarian citizens – in the 21st century in European Bulgaria. At the beginning of every year, people are full of hopes and it depends on the politicians in the National Assembly to what extent these hopes are fulfilled and to what extent the policy that is carried out turns into another disappointment for those who support one or another administration, one or another power, one policy or another.

Today we live in an extremely deteriorated international situation. The policy of sanctions and counter-sanctions between Russia and the EU continues, which the government actually supports, and the price of which is paid by the Bulgarian citizens. There are 300 million losses for Bulgarian agriculture alone. We from BSP LEFT BULGARIA have repeatedly, both last year and this year, opposed this policy of the Bulgarian government, a policy that harms Bulgarian citizens.

The conflicts around us continue, which confront Europe with a political, social, cultural crisis, under the pressure of a million immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa, often with unclear nationality and status, who flood the Old Continent. The Bulgarian government still does not have a clear position on where Bulgaria is in this process and how it participates in the formation of the positions. How much will the Bulgarian citizens pay from this 3 billion euro aid that the European Union agreed with Turkey? How many refugees will be accepted in Bulgaria from the 400,000 that were agreed to be resettled from Turkey to the territory of the EU? Bulgarian citizens need to know that we from BSP LEFT BULGARIA will be extremely persistent in clarifying this issue. We will be very insistent that Bulgaria has an active position, now that the revision of the Dublin Agreement is being discussed. This issue was also discussed last night in the European Parliament. We will be very persistent for Bulgaria to be an equal member of the EU, a member with its own interests, to be in the Schengen family and a member that should receive solidarity support.

Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia cannot be a second buffer zone against the wave of refugees. Here, the government has its great responsibility to defend the interests of Bulgaria, and not meekly wait for what the “bosses” will say. We don’t care if David goes around the southern border. We are interested in the British and other European governments realizing Bulgaria as a full and equal member of the EU, which needs European solidarity. At the moment, there is no clear direction in foreign policy, and we from BSP LEFT BULGARIA will constantly provide the alternatives that the government offers as Bulgarian solutions – both in the west and in the east.

The domestic political situation is no less disturbing. Especially in the field of crime we are witnessing flagrant, brazen murders. We are witnessing an inability to deal with ordinary domestic crime that oppresses and harasses people in small settlements. And here the answers are absent, and here the political PR, the crisis PR replaces the real actions that the Bulgarian citizens expect from a government that understands crime the most and maybe because of this, crime increases the most when it governs.

We will support the initiatives that are real and give opportunities to the Ministry of the Interior, to the services of Bulgaria to do their work against crime. But not the initiatives within the framework of the political PR, not within the framework of the political mastery and use of the internal security system for internal purposes – to pressure business, to extract political dividends, to win the next election with “Zivkovsky” results and reporting some kind of dead stability, stability that more and more Bulgarian citizens feel as an invisible result – on their pockets, on the prospects for their children to study, an invisible result such as access to health care, after the so-called reforms based on the supreme philosophy of neoliberalism – health, education… However, these people who go every day to the Bulgarian villages in misery, do not have the opportunity to be treated in shiny private clinics and their children do not study in shiny private schools.

There are alternatives to liberal democracy! The real alternative is the one required by the Bulgarian Constitution. This year we will celebrate 25 years since the creation of the Constitution. We from the BSP LEFT BULGARIA will categorically defend its three main principles – Bulgaria to be a democratic, social, legal state! They are not a given, but must be asserted every day, when freedom of speech in Bulgaria in the 21st century is violated, when programs are taken down and banned in the public media because they are not liked and are not in the right tone with the politics of today’s right-wing government. When bills related to demographic development are rejected, when the tax system continues to be a system for the rich few and favors the ever greater accumulation and separation of these 5% of the millions of Bulgarian citizens.

We from the BSP LEFT BULGARIA will have our priorities – progressive income taxation, differentiated VAT, which enables the costs of raising children to be different, social benefits for mothers and children, social solutions for Bulgaria. And not in 50 years’ time, when today’s government strategy is addressed, which is offered to us today as an alternative to clear short-term measures that Parliament has committed the government to. It did not fulfill this decision of the National Assembly! Therefore, we will be even more persistent during this parliamentary session and this year. Because we have the right to say – we were consistent and did not lie to our voters! We will continue to be consistent in defending the interests of the majority of Bulgarian citizens.
