Organized by the European Innovation Council and the Executive Agency for SMEs, the European Prize for Innovative Women 2021 rewards women (co) entrepreneurs and innovators.
This award is given to the most talented female entrepreneurs in the EU and countries associated with Horizon Europe, which has built a successful business and brought innovation to market.
There are two categories:
- Main Category: Three prizes of 100 000 € each awarded to women who have excelled in all of the award criteria.
- “Budding innovator” category: A price of 50 000 € awarded to a young woman 30 years of age or younger.
To apply, you must be:
- A women residing in a EU member state (including overseas countries and territories) or a country associated with Horizon Europe
- Founder or co-founder of a business innovative active registered for at least two years before the submission deadline.
The selection criteria for the jury are as follows:
- breakthrough innovation – the company founded or co-founded by the candidate provides a truly innovative product or service,
- impact – the product or service responds to a specific societal need or challenge, with significant benefits for citizens and for the economy,
- inspiration – the candidate demonstrated active leadership and played a central role in the success of the company. The candidate has the potential to inspire others.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a audition in front of the members of the jury to defend their candidacy (this hearing can take place remotely).
The EU Women Innovators Award honors women entrepreneurs behind breakthrough innovations, raises awareness of the need to recruit more women innovators, and helps create role models for women and girls around the world .
