Europe gives us crazy money for Ukrainian refugees

Bulgaria is among the countries that will receive additional funds from the European Social Fund (ESF), the European Commission announced today.

It is expected that € 18.6 million will be earmarked for covering the basic needs of vulnerable groups. Ukrainian refugees will also be distributed vouchers that can be exchanged for food and everyday items such as clothes and school supplies.

Another € 36.4 million will be devoted to economic recovery measures to preserve jobs and improve assistance services for people with disabilities. Of these, € 23.8 million will support 9,000 Ukrainian refugees to enter the Bulgarian labor market.

The Commission notes that 40 billion euros were provided in the EU last year for similar purposes, including aid to Ukrainian refugees.
