At this week’s Brussels Motor Show, a panel of 57 motoring journalists from across Europe selected the European Car of the Year for 2023. The winner was chosen with a total of 328 points, marking a lead of nearly 100 points over the second in the standings. Only cars presented on the European market during the 12 months of the previous year are included in the competition.
This time the prize goes to Jeep and their first all-electric model – the Avenger. It managed to impress the judges and collected the most votes, ranking behind the Volkswagen ID.Buzz with 241 points and the Nissan Ariya with 211 votes. In the ranking we can also find Kia Niro with 200 points in fourth position and Renault Austral in fifth place with 163 points.
The Jeep Avenger is built on a familiar Stellantis platform, which can also be found in the Peugeot 2008 and Opel Mokka. At the moment, the “jeep” is available only in an electric version, but very soon a version with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with three cylinders, also known to us from the range of Opel, Peugeot and Citroen, will be added.
