The broadcasting of the international TV channel “Euronews” is being suspended in Belarus, the Belarusian Ministry of Information said on Monday.
The broadcast is suspended because violations of the laws regulating the field of advertising have been established, the ministry explained to the news agency “RIA Novosti”.
However, the website of the Ministry indicates that the term of the license for the distribution of the signal of this broadcaster in the territory of Belarus has expired.
The Belarusian Association of Journalists admits that the broadcast of Euronews has been suspended for other reasons.
“Most likely, it was to implement an even greater information blockade of the Belarusian people.
In Belarus, after the August 9 presidential election, a widespread protest against the falsification of the presidential election and the authoritarian leader Lukashenko began.
Authorities detained thousands of protesters, many of whom testified to torture.
Several protesters lost their lives and more than 400 protesters were sentenced to severe prison terms.
The opposition is demanding the removal of Lukashenko from power, the release of political prisoners and the holding of new elections.
