Tradie Steve Thomson became an overnight multimillionaire just a few weeks ago after a mind-blowing AU $ 201 million lottery win.
But while it could experience a luxury vacation in an exotic location or indulge in epic shopping sprees, the independent builder has surprised audiences by sticking to its humble roots.
Mr Thomson and his Slovak-born wife Lenka, who live in Selsey, southern England, won £ 105million (AU $ 201million) after buying a ticket to a draw of the EuroMillions at the end of November.
The parents of three became the winners of the ninth biggest jackpot ever in the UK.
But last week Mr Thomson made headlines after returning to work with his business partner after promising customers he would complete their tasks before Christmas.
And now it has been revealed that the only folly he has done since hitting the jackpot was a used car.
He told the British tabloid The mirror he refused to throw away his newfound fortune – and that he considered luxury cars “a waste of money”.
“(The car is) two years old. I did not splash. I’m not going to go out and start splashing them, it still hasn’t leaked, ”he told the publication.
“It was very stressful. I am still not sleeping, I am still not eating properly. It’s a lot to assimilate. “
Mr Thomson also pledged to “keep working” and said the work had been a welcome respite from the upheavals that accompanied the victory.
“I have too much to think about with Christmas and my family now. But of course, I have to finish the work that I have ”, he explained to The mirror.
“I said I would do the job, so I have to do it, I can’t go back on my word.”
The 42-year-old was also recently photographed by The sun hauling boxes, driving his old pickup truck and helping his business partner Neil Peet instead of relaxing and splashing his money.

“I went to my van, I got home, thought of knocking on a neighbor’s door, I got back to the van – I think I was about to have a heart attack.
Mr Thomson decided to visit his wife at work to break the news.
