A lucky UK ticket holder has won the EuroMillions £ 39million jackpot.

The main winning numbers in the The New Years draws are 16, 28, 32, 44, and 48, and the lucky stars are 01 and 09.

Andy Carter of Camelot, Senior National Lottery Winners Advisor, said: “What an incredible start to 2021 for UK EuroMillions players.

“One UK winner took the entire £ 39million EuroMillions jackpot tonight and ten lucky players walked away with £ 1million each at the special UK Millionaire Maker New Year’s Day event. ”

Camelot said earlier that £ 4 billion was awarded in 2020 which created 391 new millionaires.

Five Christmas ticket winners have yet to claim their festive national lottery fortunes, including two £ 1million prizes.

Mr Carter said: “Players are encouraged to check their tickets online through the National Lottery app or website, or at their local store, and call us to claim the first big prizes of 2021.

“National Lottery players are making a huge difference to National Lottery good causes across the country by raising an average of around £ 30million each week.

“Thanks to National Lottery players, over £ 800million has been distributed to date across the UK to help combat the impact of coronavirus, including over £ 400 million to support the most vulnerable in our communities ”.

Lottery ticket winners have 180 days to file a claim. If no one shows up, the prize goes to a charity.

In September, someone in Scotland lost almost £ 58million after failing to claim their Euromillions winnings.

But others have not been so slow.

In June, electrician Simon Waddup of Coventry won £ 1,000,000 in the lottery after buying his very first EuroMillions tickets “because a voice in his head told him so”.

A month earlier, key worker Anthony Canty also celebrated a £ 1million lottery win.

He revealed how he saved the life of a police officer after suffering a heart attack on the bus during the lockdown.

He said he visited the officer while he was being treated and kept in touch after his recovery, adding: “I phoned him for the victory and he said that” good karma happens to the right people “.”
