EuroMillions: a player does not claim his winnings and loses 1 million euros

A EuroMillions player won one million euros in Reunion last October.
But the lucky winner never collected his check.
The latter therefore now returns to the hands of Française des jeux (FDJ).

A gain definitely lost. A EuroMillions player won the sum of one million euros in Reunion, during the draw on October 3. But the lucky winner never claimed their winnings, explains Tirage-gagnant.comthis Sunday, December 3.

“Like every evening of the European lottery draw, a player was drawn in the My Million raffle which endows each draw on Tuesday and Friday with a necessarily won prize of 1 million euros”reports the press release. “That evening, the winning code My Million MV 249 2574 is drawn at random, it is first indicated to have been won overseas before the result is refined around a grid validated in a point of sale located in the south of Reunion Island”, he continues.

A period of 60 days

But despite “intensive research in the various FDJ points of sale”, and after two months, the owner of the winnings has still not reported. Result ? Considered as “lost”the jackpot now rightfully belongs to Française des jeux (FDJ) and is included in the “Kit Fund”, in order to be put back into play.

Indeed, the rules are clear, specifies Tirage-gagnant.com: “A win won in the lottery in France, whether it is only a few euros or several million euros, must be claimed within 60 days after the winning draw”underlines the press release.

And this case is not isolated. Since the start of 2023, from Charente to Haute-Garonne, five people have not claimed their winnings from the FDJ.
