If you had to choose a day to try your luck at the Euromillions, it might be this one. In a press release published on the site Winning draw, the famous European lottery announces that a record jackpot will be wagered on Tuesday, October 12. Indeed, while no one has won the jackpot, Friday, October 8, the jackpot has increased to now stand at 220 million euros. A record sum for the game after nine draws without a winner and while a mega-jackpot of 130 million euros had been added to it on the evening of September 24.
This new ceiling of 220 million euros, unprecedented for the European lottery, could be called into play four times if no winner was chosen in the various draws. If no player manages to find the right numbers, a fifth draw necessarily “won or shared” will be made on Tuesday, October 26, the statement said. This is only the third time since the introduction of the new lottery rules that a Euromillions cap has been reached in ten months.
The 250 million soon to be reached?
After this new level has been crossed, the maximum ceiling of the European lottery will thus be raised to 230 million euros from the next series of draws. If it were reached again, this ceiling would then be set at 240 million euros and then 250 million, the maximum jackpot that can be offered by the Euromillion. Draw-Win also recalls that if the pot were won in France, it would constitute a net and historic gain for the country, the State not levying any tax on lottery winnings, unlike Switzerland, which takes around 35%.
The largest sum ever won in the European lottery was cashed in Switzerland on February 26, 2021 with a jackpot of 210 million euros. In December 2020, it was in France that a lucky little one was able to win the second biggest gain in history with 200 million euros affected. The United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal each have a representative who won the sum of 190,000 euros, the third largest win of the Euromillion.
