Euromed University of Fez and the French Development Agency announce the launch of Tech4Farmers, a support program intended for innovators in the field of agricultural technologies (AgriTech). This program was officially launched during a conference at Euromed University in Fez on March 7, with the aim of supporting the development and commercialization of AgriTech solutions adapted to the needs of agriculture in Morocco, and in particular in the Fez-Meknes region.
Tech4Farmers is part of a larger project aimed at establishing a Regional Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the agriculture and agri-food sectors in Fez-Meknes. This project benefits from the support of the UEMF, the AFD, the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the Digital Agriculture Pole, as well as a consortium of partners.
The program offers a 12-month incubator, implemented with the help of partners such as IMPACT Lab and BearingPoint, to accelerate the development of AgriTech startups. Participants will be able to refine their prototypes, develop their business plans and launch strategies. They will receive training, coaching, access to laboratories and equipment, as well as financial support of up to 100,000 dirhams for their equipment and expertise needs.
Selected projects will also have the opportunity to collaborate with local agricultural companies, allowing immersion in the real market and validation of the relevance of their offers. The goal of Tech4Farmers is to facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies by farmers in the region.
To participate, projects must target the Moroccan market with an initial prototype and respond to specific themes. Applications are evaluated on several criteria, including innovation, prototype maturity and the company’s growth potential. Twenty projects will be chosen for this first cohort, with a submission deadline set for April 7, 2024.
