On Tuesday, June 27, the European High Performance Computing Joint Venture EuroHPC solemnly signed contracts for the purchase of six quantum computers for European high-performance computing centers in the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and Germany. The Quantum Computer Science Center of the Computer Science Faculty of the University of Latvia (LU) will participate in the approbation of the quantum computer located in Poland.
The European High Performance Computing Joint Venture EuroHPC signed contracts for the purchase of six quantum computers for European high-performance computing centers. These six quantum computers will be integrated with existing supercomputers and will be available to a wide range of European users, including scientists, businessmen and government organizations. One of these computers will be located in Poland, and our role will be to test various quantum algorithms on the new quantum computer and evaluate its power through it,” says Professor Andris Ambainis, head of the Quantum Computer Science Center of the LU.

The quantum computer “EuroQCS-POLAND”, which will be operated by the researchers of the Quantum Computer Science Center of LU, will be located at the Poznań Center for Supercomputing and Computer Networks (PSNC) in Poland. The Poznań Center for Supercomputing and Computer Networks, the Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish company “Creotech Instruments SA” and the Center for Quantum Computer Science of the LU will participate in the approbation of this quantum computer.
The purchase of quantum computers will take place with financial support from the European Commission within the “Digital Europe” program, investing more than 100 million euros in the purchase of quantum computers.
