Johannes Stelten becomes the new managing director of the Eurogate container terminal in Hamburg. He succeeds Tom Eckelmann, who is returning to Eurokai.

Eckelmann (38) took over the management of the Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH) three years ago. It is said that the 38-year-old wants to devote himself to new tasks at Eurokai, the Hamburg family company and 50% shareholder of Eurogate.

His successor at the CTH in Waltershofer Hafen, effective March 1, will be Johannes Stelten (57), who was last manager. He is regarded as an experienced terminal manager who has already held various managerial positions at Eurogate.

Michael Blach, Chairman of the Group Management at Eurogate, paid tribute to the achievements of both. Eckelmann and Stelten managed to turn things around together after considerable volume losses due to the consequences of shipowner consolidation in the period 2017/18. CMA CGM was won as a new customer and the new berth 6 was put into operation. Most recently, container volumes at the 2017 level were handled again at the CTH.
