A series of requirements that must be met for the export of this product were established, among which are the general requirements for transport, storage and identification of the product and the management of officially controlled diseases in livestock farms.
At the beginning of 2023, the general manager of ICA, María del Pilar Ruíz, met with the ambassador of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Hachemi, in order to attend to the interest of this country in importing 5,000 tons of meat Colombian bovine. As a result of this meeting, technical roundtables were held between ICA, INVIMA, the Algerian Embassy in Colombia and the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture to specify the sanitary requirements and continue to strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
“We are pleased to deliver this excellent news to all the small, medium, and large cattle farmers in Colombia, with whom we work daily to build an equitable, productive farm with greater opportunities, not only nationally but also internationally. With the opening of the Algerian market for beef, we continue working to make Colombia a world food power, delivering products with optimal sanitary and safety conditions,” stressed María del Pilar Ruíz, general manager of ICA.
Algeria joins the list of countries to which Colombia can export beef, such as Russia, Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, among others.
