The euro largely held its own in US trading. The common currency last cost 1.0952 US dollars after it had dropped to 1.0917 dollars in Europe. The European Central Bank (ECB) had set the reference rate at 1.0933 (Tuesday: 1.0972) dollars. The dollar had thus cost 0.9147 (0.9114) euros.
