The announcement of the venues of the two final tournaments was a mere formality, as more countries did not apply to host them. “Both candidacies were of high quality. They are all football countries with tradition and passion, and stadiums and infrastructure will be completed by the time of the event. We can only hope that the Czech national team will start on these football holidays,” said Fousek, who is a member of the UEFA executive committee.
Euro 2028 will be held in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Ireland. Goalkeeper Matěj Kovář, who until recently worked at Manchester United, would like to play in the tournament. “It would definitely be a great motivation for me to play there. Of course, it’s a little longer and it’s unrealistic to predict what will happen during that time. But it would certainly be nice to capture there and I will try to be there,” said Kovář.
“The Euro in England is probably the best it can be. Stadiums, spectators, people, everything around… I hope that the Czech national will certainly not be missing there, and I will be with him,” added the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who transferred from Manchester to Leverkusen in the summer.
According to defender Jakub Brabec, the championship four years later in Turkey will also be good. In the 2018/19 season, the 31-year-old defender was a guest at the local Rizespor. “In Turkey, of course, the stadiums are there for that, as well as the capacity of people and everything. Football is definitely the number one sport there, maybe with basketball. It’s going to be very stormy there. I think it will be an experience for all fans and players,” said Brabec.
