The main result for us of the next game day of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament was the Serbian national team reaching the finals.
The Serbs, playing in Group G, again made us nervous – during the home match with Bulgaria there was a short period when the situation could have changed against us. The Bulgarians fought back and then took the lead, and in the parallel match between Hungary and Montenegro the score was equal. But the Montenegrins were not destined to beat their neighbors – the Hungarians solved their local problem and finished first. And Serbia took second place in this group.
This also means that the Ukrainian team, in case of failure in the match with the Italians, will be able to continue to fight in the playoffs. We won’t get ahead of ourselves; we’ll wait for the outcome in Leverkusen.
In Group A, the Spaniards finished at the top of the table. As Luis De la Fuente promised, his players scored maximum points in two November matches. Unlike Scotland, whose winless streak is already three matches. However, both of these teams won tickets to Euro 2024 a month ago.
The story is the same in Group F. Belgium, having defeated the Azerbaijani national team on their field, was ahead of the Austrians and took first place. By the way, Romelu Lukaku became the first player in the history of the Belgian national team who managed to score four goals before the break.
Finally, as we said, the last round turned into a formality for the teams of Group J. Portugal and Slovakia took first and second places, respectively. But even in the ranks of participants in the final tournament of Euro 2024, they won further victories.
Interestingly, three teams from this group will continue to fight for spots in the playoffs. The national teams of Luxembourg, Iceland and Bosnia received this right thanks to their successful performance in the last Nations League.
