The constitution of the four pots for the Euro 2024 draw has practically been defined. After the end of the qualifying group stage, all that remains is to know the three winning teams from the three play-off paths, which will occupy pot 4.
This Tuesday, Turkey and Romania confirmed first place in their respective groups and, therefore, their presence in pot 2.
Croatia, which secured the last spot via the group stage this evening, goes to pot 3 and the Croatians’ progress pushed Italy to pot 4, also confirmed this Tuesday for Switzerland, who failed to get the better of Romania to win the group.
Portugal, which is in pot 1, avoids some “sharks”, such as hosts Germany, but also France, Spain, Belgium and England, but can catch several of the best teams in Europe that are distributed in the remaining three pots.
Remember that pot 1 is made up of the host team, plus the five best group winners in qualification (note: as there are groups with five and others with six teams, the results against the sixth placed teams did not count in this calculation). Pot 2 features the five worst group winners, plus the best runner-up. Pot 3 has six more runners-up (from 2nd best to 7th best among the ten groups). Pot 4 has the three worst runners-up, plus the three winners of the play-off scheduled for March 2024.
The Euro 2024 draw is scheduled for December 2, in Hamburg.
