Belgian footballers won Russia 3-0 in the EURO 2020 B-group.
Two goals were scored in the first half, in which Romela Lukaku and Thomas Meunier scored. In the 88th minute, Lukaku made his second shot in Saturday’s match. After the 1st round of the B-group, the Belgians are at the top of the scoreboard ahead of Finland, which defeated the Danes 1: 0.
They will start the next match on Thursday 17 June from 6.00 pm in Copenhagen against Denmark. The Russians will play on Wednesday from 15.00 CEST in St. Petersburg against Finland.

The Belgians, as the favorites from the beginning, dictated the pace and took the lead in the 10th minute. Hesitation of the defender Semjonov, who did not process the Mertens center, used Lukaku, who got his bearings and shot the goalkeeper Šunin with a left hand – 1: 0. The Russians had a promising chance in the 14th minute, when Fernandes headed for Golovina after a corner kick, but the goalie Courtois was prompted. In four minutes, Lukaku did not escape to Jikij’s break, addressed the return pass to Dendoncker, but he did not hit the goal. The same player could have confirmed the dominance of the Belgians in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper Šunin missed his chance. In the 34th minute, however, he shot a shot from behind the penalty area only in front of the uncovered Meunier, who did not hesitate – 2: 0. In the set time of the first half, Carrasco presented himself with an individual action, but he scored from the inside of the sixteen.
In the second half, the event took place mainly between the sixteen and a rather defensive game dominated. The Russians paid more attention to mistakes than in the first act, they tried to play football, but Belgium’s organized defense caused them problems. The Russians tried to revive the game with substitutions, but even those did not bring goal opportunities. On the other hand, in the 88th minute Meunier pulled out Lukaku, who overcame Šunin – 3: 0.
