“With cross-border cooperation, we are able to strengthen the economy in the region and, in close collaboration, drive innovation forward. This cooperation promotes mutual understanding and helps us to strengthen our common identity. We are not just neighbors, but above all friends. This fruitful and intensive partnership realizes the European idea of a togetherness that knows no borders ”, says Heinrichs.
“Europe lives not only through the EU and its institutions, but also through good neighborhood and direct contacts across borders. In the euregio rhein-maas-nord we are working on many specific projects that have a positive effect on people living together and on their everyday lives. This is how the idea of Europe comes to life – and little by little, neighbors become friends. I look forward to being able to work even more intensively on the common goals as President of the euregio, ”said Meyer.
The euregio rhein-maas-nord is a special purpose association of German and Dutch cities and communities along the German-Dutch border with the aim of strengthening German-Dutch cooperation in the border region. 31 member municipalities, districts, independent cities, as well as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and MKB-Limburg are represented in the euregio. The general activities of the euregio rhein-maas-nord are co-financed by grants from the province of Limburg and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Projects within the framework of the INTERREG V A program are co-financed by the European Union, the Province of Limburg and the Ministries of Economics of the Netherlands and North Rhine-Westphalia. The euregio is also responsible for the GrenzInfoPunkt for people who want to work across the border and for the euregio-Xperience project, which offers internships, language courses and application training for vocational school students.
