Eure-et-Loir departmental council: the defense collective of the Anatole-France college of Châteaudun interrupts its session in Chartres

Installed on seats reserved for the public, in the hemicycle of the Eure-et-Loir departmental council, place Châtelet in Chartres, around twenty demonstrators have stood up since the beginning of the plenary session, this Monday 21 November.

Members of the “A future for Anatole-France” collective, who oppose the plan to close the Anatole-France college in Châteaudun, raised placards and chanted slogans, calling in particular for “an audience for Anatole-France”.

The president of the Eure-et-Loir departmental council, Christophe Le Dorven (LR), asked the demonstrators to leave the room. In the face of their refusal, the suspension of the session was requested.

Châteaudun: 150 people demonstrate against the merger of colleges

“We will not go out until we have obtained a hearing date. The collective asks to be received from October 14,” explains Pierre Licout, departmental co-secretary of the FSU. The union official supports this group, made up of teachers, staff and students’ parents.

Loïc Lebreton, professor of physics and chemistry at Anatole-France college and member of the collective, says:

We are calling for the restructuring of the Anatole-France college and not its closure, which would lead to a merger with the Tomas-Divi college and lead to indecent working conditions.

After discussing a few minutes with the director general of services of the Eure-et-Loir departmental council, the demonstrators left with a hearing date. They will be received on December 15th. The session, largely dedicated to the debate on the 2023 budget guidelines, was able to resume.

The collective A future for Anatole-France will organize an action on November 19, in Châteaudun, to save the college threatened with closure
