“I don’t agree with that,” says Reulings. “I did use the song for inspiration, but it’s not the same one-on-one. I wouldn’t take that risk because there is a lot of time and energy in the song.”
Phone call
“I was called on Tuesday morning and in a minute it was explained to me that it looked too much like an existing number and that there would be a press release. I had to do it with that. This is my first acquaintance with the LVK,” says Reulings with a laugh. .
Music knowledge
He also finds it strange that this was only reported after the announcement of all finalists. “The professional jury consists of 48 people with all knowledge of music. They didn’t notice it. And this is a different song than all those other carnival songs. That’s just so much fun.”
Participation LVK
Reulings does not go against the decision of the LVK: “What can I do? I still support the number and continue with it.” Although he has a bad feeling about the situation, he does not rule out a subsequent participation in the LVK. “If I make another song that I fully support and that I don’t think is a cover, I’ll send it in again.”
