Sydney Sweeney, the actress who broke through with her role in the HBO series ‘Euphoria’, spoke out in an interview with the British newspaper The Independent about the many nudes in the high-profile series.

‘Euphoria’ tells the story of a group of teenagers who struggle with the temptations of drugs, sex and social media. The makers are not afraid to portray their actors and actresses realistically, but after the first season there was criticism that it was mainly the actresses who were portrayed naked.

“The script for the second season again contained more nudity than I felt comfortable with,” Sweeney now agrees. “There were times when Cassie (her character, ed.) was topless, but that I was against Sam (Levinson, creator of the series, ed.) said ‘I don’t think that’s necessary here’. But to his credit: then he said ‘OK, we don’t need it’. I never felt that he was pushing me, or that I had to go naked because it’s an HBO series. If I didn’t want to do it, he wouldn’t force me.”

That seems reasonable, but according to Sweeney, she had different experiences in the past. “As an actress, I’ve already been in situations where I wanted to go home and take a shower because I thought I was disgusting. Where I didn’t feel comfortable with my fellow actor or the crew. But then I wasn’t able to argue with that.”
